2022 THE BREAKOUT YEAR IN WEDDINGS

No doubt that you have heard there will be an estimated 2.5 million weddings in 2022. That is the most weddings on record since 1983. So what does that mean for you?

You have seen the many postings from vendors requesting grace and patience as we organize our lives here in 2021 and in part is from short staffing, distributing delays, the huge influx of requests, the overwhelming demands of the coming year, and the rebound effect of 2020 to 2021.

All the checklists you may be finding online laying out the appropriate timeline of when you ought to be booking things out are nullified. All the projections of costs are debatable. And the planning process of 2022 is anything but typical. The inquiries are coming in so heavily that vendors cannot keep up, the staffing is so behind that people aren’t trained or even in place to offer response, the distributors still cannot promise us access to what we request, and we are getting blackout dates all over the place due to the sheer number of clients.

At this point in time we are all feeling the pinch. We haven’t experienced a pandemic before and then immediately afterwards experienced the biggest influx of events following our biggest downturn. So what does that mean for you? It means that its time to go all in!

With 2022 being the year that it is you need to lock in your top vendors sooner rather than later. Many are already at full capacity. You need to move up the timeline of every vendor booking. You also may need to consider bringing on a planner in a larger capacity than you anticipated because we can tell you with a tremendous amount of experience that things have been complicated. Moreover we have found that due to distribution, staffing, and influx costs have also been on the rise. Not the news you hoped for no doubt but nonetheless important for you to consider as you dive in.

Venues are booked which means people are getting creative and looking to tented scenarios. Big city venues are maxed out so clients are looking to neighboring states or destination. People are getting black out dates so clients are looking to “off dates” for events like mid week or off season.

What is right for one will not be right for another, but the biggest takeaway to hold on to is that your day is still just as important, just as special, and just as exciting. When you begin your planning process remain flexible and you will open up a world of opporunity perhaps you may have overlooked otherwise. 2022 and our current climate simply IS NOT NORMAL. There is nothing typical about this time in planning but there is an excitement like we’ve never seen before.

We will get you there! It may be a new path or an unexpected journey but we get there. Let us know how we might be able to help you!
